Thank you for joining us!
We are so grateful for your participation at our inaugural Community Conversation event featuring Mónica Guzmán.
Just over 300 members of our community gathered at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts on May 22 to join us in kicking off our newest community event. Your generous contribution of time, voice, and perspective in these meaningful bridge-building conversations has significantly strengthened our community. We hope the new insight and tools you gained will continue to fuel curious conversations in the future.
Looking for a written recap of the event? Check out this post from our colleagues at the Project for Civic Health and be sure to check out the other resources available on their site.
We invite you to watch the recording of the event below, and we would like to extend a special thanks to our colleagues at TVW for the recording!
Meet Mónica
Mónica Guzmán is a bridge builder, journalist, and entrepreneur who lives for great conversations sparked by curious questions. A Seattle journalist and Senior Fellow for Public Practice at Braver Angels, Mónica discusses her book I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times. Drawing from her experiences with cross-partisan conversations, she shares strategies to better understand and learn from people whose worldviews are different from or even opposed to yours.
"We think differently from each other. That's good because our lives are so much richer for it, and it's also tough because it can make it hard to understand each other and work together."
To stay in touch with Mónica and find out more about her upcoming projects, including her new podcast, A Braver Way, be sure to check out her website and sign up for the Reclaim Curiosity Newsletter.
Please join us in expressing thanks to Browsers Bookshop, who joined us at the reception with copies of Mónica's books for all to enjoy and get signed by the author herself. And to those who joined us on stage: Lt. Governor Denny Heck, and Renee Radcliff Sinclair, board member of the Community Foundation and President & CEO of TVW, who joined Mónica as a conversationalist.
