As an organization, we are dedicated to being inclusive and representative of our communities, and your participation is crucial in shaping the leadership and future of our foundation. Our goal is to establish a Board of Directors that reflects the diverse makeup of our region, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, socioeconomic status, and geography.

Currently, our highest priorities for board recruitment include:

  • Individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, or a person of color
  • Candidates residing and/or working in Lewis County or Mason County
  • Community members with expertise in healthcare, education, legal, and fundraising fields

To learn more about the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of board members, please click here. On average, board members commit approximately 5-6 hours per month to their duties.

Below are quotes from two Board of Directors members who joined in 2022 on why they choose to serve our communities in this capacity.

"I value the opportunity to serve on the Community Foundation board because I believe in the organizations we are supporting in our communities.  The ability to create sustainability for organizations working to make our communities better while building the base of the Community Foundation is an attractive philanthropic model for me." – Renee Radcliff Sinclair (She/Her)
“I know how blessed I have been in my life, and I also realize that everyone doesn't always get the opportunities that I have had. Generosity is important because it allows me to give back to a community that I love, that has provided me with a life that I am grateful for. I believe that the more generous I can be, the more chances I have to create those same opportunities for someone else.” – John Stormans (He/Him)

Next Steps

Please take the opportunity to nominate yourself or someone else by Friday, September 1, 2023.

All nominations will be considered in September, and final candidates will be invited to meet with two or three members of the Governance Committee. Candidate presentations and voting are scheduled to take place during our October Board of Directors meeting.
