About this Scholarship
The John and Opal McGimpsey Scholarship Fund was created in 2006 by John and Opal McGimpsey to benefit graduating seniors of Olympia High School (OHS) and North Thurston High School (NTHS). This scholarship is guided by three strong beliefs:
- Education is important
- Scholarships of significant dollar value would help conscientious students remain more focused on their studies
- Students who are not necessarily the highest scholastic achievers, but have a strong work ethic, as well as ability and commitment, should have the opportunity for this scholarship.
Residence in student housing is preferred, particularly in the first year. This scholarship has the potential to be renewed for up to an additional four years for undergraduate education. Reapplication each year is required.
Key Criteria
Graduating senior from either OHS or NTHS. Must be planning to attend a public accredited 2-4 year institution in Washington State. Minimum GPA of 3.0 required. (Renewable)
